:: Boca Raton GreenMarket
Where: Royal Palm Place, intersection of S Federal Hwy & S Mizner Blvd
Saturday, March 5, 2011
Time: 8:00 AM
Boca Raton---Grab your shopping bags and head on over to the Boca Raton GreenMarket scheduled for each Saturday from now through May 7, 2011, in the southwest parking lot of Royal Palm Place. Hours are from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm each market day. Now in its 14th year of operation, the Children's Museum will once again oversee the operations, with the support of Investments Limited who owns the site. The location at the intersection of South Federal Highway and South Mizner Boulevard provides easy access and visibility to the thousands of shoppers who frequent the market throughout the season. Plenty of parking is available adjacent to the GreenMarket vendor site.

As with all markets operating in the Palm Beach County area, Boca's GreenMarket has continually been dedicated to local food production and consumption….produce that travels from farm direct to the dining table……and through the process supporting the Florida agricultural industry and the economy of our south Florida area. Each Saturday, fresh locally-grown fruits and vegetables as they become available in their individual growing seasons---along with fresh herbs, soaps & lotions, juices, potted orchids, ocean shells, fresh cut flowers, assorted variety of plants, fresh baked goods, prepared foods, oils & vinegars, gourmet foods, hydroponic and organic foods, fresh fish and seafood, fresh pasta, doggie treats ---are available for purchase. Several of the vendors have participated since the Market began in 1996, with new vendors joining each year. Community service organizations are also on hand from time to time to share information or to promote a special group project.

"Best of all, Boca's GreenMarket has become 'thee' place to visit on Saturday mornings----where friends come together for a quick cup of fresh coffee and where friends depart with
shopping bags filled with the freshest of produce---all taking place in an outdoor market setting in the heart of beautiful downtown Boca Raton," states Poppi Mercier, Executive Director of the Children's Museum. "As is often heard by vendors and shoppers alike, it's just a 'fun' place to be on Saturday morning in a relaxed atmosphere….a place for the entire family to enjoy a few hours in the out-of-doors."

Several special activities, promotions and customer giveaways are planned at various times throughout the Market season. Live music takes place on the Piazza Stage from 10am to Noon.

The Boca Raton GreenMarket is organized by the Children's Museum and supported by The Boca Raton Tribune, Florida Health & Chiropractic Medicine, Aurora Nurses Home Health Care, Inc., Investments Limited, Inc., Costco, Palm Beach County, Farm Credit of South Florida, Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, and "FRESH from FLORIDA," a promotional campaign of Florida's Department of Agriculture and Consumer Affairs.

BOCA BACCHANAL ANNOUNCES FEATURED CHEFS AND VINTNERS
Food and Wine Fundraiser Launched at Festive Party

BOCA RATON, FL - (November 20, 2010
) Cheers! The Boca Bacchanal Committee toasted the kickoff of its popular food and wine fundraiser recently, announcing the acclaimed Chefs and Vintners who will be featured at the event, which is scheduled for March 18 -20, 2011, at various sites in the Boca Raton area. For general event information, to order weekend ticket packages and individual tickets, visit http://www.bocabacchanal.com or call 561.395.6766, X 101.

The presentation, hosted by the Boca Raton Historical Society and Republic National Distributing Company, was enthusiastically received by supporters at a festive party held at the historic FEC Railway Station - Count de Hoernle Pavilion. The occasion was also time to offer a toast to generous patrons Bob Campbell, Dick and Barbara Schmidt and the 2010 BB Fund-a-need donors and to welcome new event partners Comerica Bank and JM Lexus.

"We are very pleased to announce an exciting theme for the ninth annual Boca Bacchanal," said Debbie Abrams, President of the Board of the Boca Raton Historical Society. "This year we will celebrate the 'Era of the Mango Gang Chefs', the handful of innovative culinarians who created South Florida's distinctive regional cuisine during the 1980's, bringing an international spotlight to our area."
"They also inspired countless young chefs who have continued their tradition of excellence, she explained. "These great chefs had the vision and talent to utilize our fresh local produce, the bounty from Florida's waters, and the influences of our geography and rich cultural mix to create a unique style of cooking. They were dubbed 'the Mango Gang' by the national food media as their acclaim began to take the culinary world by storm. The rest is history!"

Abrams said that the Committee has assembled a core group of the Mango Gang chefs, as well as those that they inspired, to create Boca Bacchanal. "The Vintner Dinners will be very special, since we have matched the chefs with a roster of equally outstanding vintners," she said.

Boca Bacchanal will feature six sumptuous Friday night Vintner Dinners set in magnificent private residences. The Chef and Vintners will be paired with the hosts of each party, and the eagerly awaited pairings will be announced by the Committee in January at the annual "Pairings Party".

The Celebrated Chefs are: Robin Haas - Gulf Coast Kitchen at the Montauk Yacht Club Resort, Montauk, NY; Cindy Hutson - Ortanique on the Mile, Coral Gables, FL; Mark Militello - Trina Restaurant & Lounge, Fort Lauderdale, FL; Douglas Rodriguez - D. Rodriguez Cuba, Miami Beach, FL; Oliver Saucy - Darrel & Oliver's Café Maxx, Pompano Beach, FL and Allen Susser - Chef Allen's, Aventura & Taste Gastropub, Delray Beach, FL

The Award Winning Vintners are: Blair Fox - Fess Parker Winery & Vineyards, Santa Barbara, CA; Kathryn Hall - Hall Winery - Napa Valley, CA; Jacques Lardiere - Maison Louis Jadot, Burgundy, France; Jac Cole - Spring Mountain Vineyard, Napa Valley, CA; Pierre Emmanuel Taittinger, Champagne Taittinger - Reims, France and Rosa Lee de Leuze - ZD Wines, Napa Valley, CA

The Committee also presented the signature art that will be the basis for marketing Boca Bacchanal 2011. Students at the Boca Raton Museum of Art-The Art School participated in a competition to create a signature art image. The winner, 'Vino Divino', an acrylic by Patricia Maguire, will be used on this year's poster as well as other imaging materials.

Boca Bacchanal is the biggest fundraiser of the Boca Raton Historical Society and it benefits its Heritage Education and Preservation Programs. The centerpiece of the weekend is The Bacchanal & Auction Saturday evening at the Boca Raton Resort & Club. It features a dynamic reception with a silent auction, an amazing dinner created by the Vintner Dinner Chefs and Vintners and the exciting live auction, with fabulous wine and lifestyle lots up for bid.

The Grand Tasting held on Sunday afternoon at the Mizner Park Amphitheatre in Boca Raton features over 140 wines to sample and "by the bite" specialties of 30 local restaurants.

Kate and Ted Toomey are General Chairpersons of Boca Bacchanal and Betsy Fletcher and Skipp Jackman are Honorary Chairs. The Bacchanal & Auction Chairmen are Steve and Stephanie Miskew. :: Boca Raton GreenMarket
Where: Royal Palm Place, intersection of S Federal Hwy & S Mizner Blvd
Saturday, March 26, 2011
