PLANTATION CHARITY PLANNING DECADENT FUNDRAISER

December 12, 2008/Davie, FL/-- In 2003, Jennifer and Brian Cohen's twin daughters were born at 31 weeks gestation. Alexandria weighed 2 lbs. 14 oz. and Sydney weighed 3 lbs. 3 oz. They spent five weeks in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Memorial Hospital West in Pembroke Pines, Florida. Thankfully today, they are healthy, thriving 5-year-olds, with no complications from having been born so early.

In an effort to show their extreme gratitude for their healthy children, The Cohens founded The Sydney & Alexandria Cohen Foundation, Inc., a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization. They have been raising funds to purchase and donate two GE OmniBed Giraffe incubators to the Memorial Hospital West NICU. The Giraffe is the most advanced and developmentally superior incubator available today. It combines design and state-of-the-art technology to create an unsurpassed healing environment for premature infants. It also allows for multiple procedures to be performed in the main isolate, eliminating the stress of moving critically ill infants from bed to bed. Quite simply, the Giraffe is the "Rolls Royce" of incubators, and a donation of two OmniBed incubators would enable medical professionals to help save the smallest infants, year over year. Their goal is to raise $65,000 and to date, they have raised almost $20,000.

To help raise funds for these lifesaving machines, the Foundation will be hosting a fundraiser "Decadent Desserts & Diamonds" at The Signature Grand in Davie, Florida, on Thursday, March 19, 2009 from 8pm to 11:30pm. The event will feature delicious desserts, an ice cream station provided by Blue Bell Ice Cream, a chocolate fountain, a liquor bar and coffee bar along with music and silent and live auctions.

Auction items include a gorgeous diamond heart necklace from Barry Kronen Designs, guitars autographed by Bon Jovi and Aerosmith, spa day packages, gift certificates to restaurants, a gift basket from the Hard Rock Hotel including a weekend stay and a Fender guitar, a membership in Bag, Borrow and Steal and much more.

Sponsors include Signature Grand, Pernod Ricard, Twin Vines Wine, Barry Kronen Designs, Lifestyle Magazine, and Blue Bell Ice Cream. More than 200 people are expected to attend.
